Design of Oxygen Balance

Explosion strength of explosives is related to its oxygen balance, most of the explosives are composed of C, H, O, and N, and some explosives also contain other [Pg.105]

The oxygen balance of explosives is the excess or insuflhcient oxygen compared to that completely oxidizes carbon and hydrogen in the explosive to CO2 and H2O. If the explosive contains other combustible elements, such as aluminum, the calculation should be done based on that aluminum is completely oxidized to AI2O3. The oxygen balance (%) of explosive CaH O N can be calculated as the following  [Pg.106]

With c — (2a + 1) =0, the oxygen in explosive is just enough to oxidize all combustible elements completely, which is called as zero oxygen balance. This explosive is called oxygen-zero explosive. [Pg.106]

In PETN with formula of C5HgOi2N4, its oxygen balance is the following  [Pg.106]
