Deregulation of Telomere-Binding Proteins

RNA interference inactivation of POT 1 in human cells was shown to modify the structure of 3 and 5 ends of the telomere and to reduce by twofold the TRF2 binding by ChlP.  

Future works will aim to determine the effect of G-quadruplex ligands on other components of the shelterin complex and associated factors, such as WRN or BLM helicases that cooperate with POTl for telomere sequence unwinding.
