Chitosan is another natural polymer, derived from the chitin produced by shellfish. It is highly water-soluble and is positively charged. Chitosan can be crosslinked in emulsion by glutaraldehyde reacting with the amino groups present on the chitosan backbone, to produce nanoparticular entities.
