Dendritic nanostructure

Section 7.3 will describe tools we developed to synthesize and characterize soft dendritic nanostructured TPE biomaterials via living carbocationic polymerization, and decorate their surfaces with tissue-friendly groups.

Whereas, Goharshadi et al. [16] have synthesized the ZnO nanoparticles of 60 nm (Fig. 8.4.) using a room temperature ionic liquid, l-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium bis (trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide, Formation of ZnO was not observed when the ionic liquid was replaced by water. Also, in the absence of ultrasound, formation of ZnO was not observed which is very similar to the one as proposed in the previous case of ZnO dendritic nanostructures. 

Work on tetrathiafulvalenes (TTFs) and related compounds has continued at a high level. TTF itself has been used for reduction of silver nitrate to produce silver dendritic nanostructures...

Further exploitation of this synthetic methodology was able to take advantage of not only ester formation and B-N interactions but also the condensation of aldehydes with primary amines. The flexibility of this methodology was demonstrated in the construction of dendritic nanostructures, in a single step. 

Although various topics relahng to the control of platinum nanostructures have been briefly described in several recent reviews, the discussions have in general been rather generic [2, 6]. As yet, to the best of our knowledge, the shape-control of platinum nanostructures has not been systemahcally reviewed, in part due to the relatively small number of pubhcations in related subjects. Those areas that have been covered well include the catalytic properties of platinum particles [1], while some degree of effort has been appHed to certain aspects of the shape control of Pt nanostructures, such as mulhpods and dendritic nanostructures [21].
