Dember effect

However, at shorter wavelengths, where light could be absorbed in the Ag2S, negative photoconductivity (increase in resistivity with light) was found. This was explained by a combined Dember effect/electrostatic attraction of electrons by Ag ions. [Pg.331]

The photovoltaic effects found in model arrangements of sensitized systems support this mechanism 40,90,101,106). Moreover, measurements of the Dember effect 103- 5) an increase of zinc oxide resistance by low coverages i°2> — and other observations 107> confirm this mechanism. Therefore, we can assume a correlation between the semiconductivity and sensitizing behavior of dyes, according to which the sensitizing behavior of dyes depends upon... [Pg.115]

Mechanism of Sensitization. Photoconductivity (170) and Dember effect (171) studies on emulsions sensitized by aurous thiocyanate complex used without S-sensitizers are consistent with hole trapping. Faelens (170) observed that the aurous thiocyanate sensitization increased the photoconductivity, but thiocyanate ion alone caused a similar increase. Hence, the product formed by the action of the aurous complex may not be... [Pg.362]

Levi and associates (26) showed that the decay kinetics in the Dember effect measured on a (S+Au)-sensitized iodobromide emulsion could be expressed by the sum of first- and second-order reactions. They attribute the first-order process to the reaction of electrons and interstitial silver ions... [Pg.363]

Keywords. InN terahertz femtosecond wavelength dependence photo-Dember effect. [Pg.261]

Dember effect is essentially the appearance of diffusion photovoltage. In the case of a magnetoconcentration detector, this voltage appears in the direction of the Lorentz force, i.e., perpendicularly to the direction of the vector product of bias and magnetic field. This means that it can be calculated as the difference between the transversal electric field across the illuminated magnetoconcentration device and the same structure without illumination. [Pg.226]
