Deferred annuity

Equation (9-41) represents the future sum of a series of uniform annual payments that are invested at a stated interest rate over a period of years. This procedure defines an ordinaiy annuity. Other Forms of annuities include the annuity due, in which payments are made at the beginning of the year instead of at the end and the deferred annuity, in which the first payment is deferred for a definite number of years. 

One special form of an annuity requires that payments be made at the beginning of each period instead of at the end of each period. This is known as an annuity due. An annuity in which the first payment is due after a definite number of years is called a deferred annuity. Determination of the periodic payments, amount of annuity, or present value for these two types of annuities can be accomplished by methods analogous to those used in the case of ordinary annuities.

The PDA, contrary to the Court s assertion, ante, at 1206, did not restrict the scope of the BFOQ defense. The PDA was only an amendment to the Definitions section of Title Vll, 42 U.S.C. 2000e, and did not purport to eliminate or alter the BFOQ defense. Rather, it merely clarified Title Vll to make it clear that pregnancy and related conditions are included within Title Vll s antidiscrimination provisions. As we have already recognized, the purpose of the PDA was simply to make the treatment of pregnancy consistent with general Title Vll principles. Know Designated Beneficiaries. Check all assets that allow for a beneficiary to be designated and verify that the current designations are consistent with your wishes. This includes life insurance policies, annuities, tax-deferred savings plans, bank accounts, and brokerage accounts. 

In the United States, Canada, and New Zealand, indexed bonds can be stripped, allowing coupon and principal cash flows to be traded separately. This obviates the need for specific issues of zero-coupon indexed securities, since the market can create products such as deferred-payment indexed bonds in response to specific investor demand. In markets allowing stripping of indexed government bonds, a strip is simply a single cash flow with an inflation adjustment. An exception to this is in New Zealand, where the cash flows are separated into three components the principal, the principal inflation adjustment, and the inflation-linked coupons—the latter being an indexed annuity.
