Data bases and libraries

We define the correspondence between computer operating systems and CAD systems by introducing special terms for the CAD model and by defining their meaning in conventional operating system terminology. The terms to be discussed here are  [Pg.183]

The universe is meant to comprise the entire computing environment available at a given CAD site. [Pg.183]

A part library is a world in the sense described above. It becomes a a part library simply by being referred to in another world. [Pg.184]

A routine library is an operating system data set (or a list of them) that contains executable modules of routines. Such routines may be called or invoked from the CAD system during an application, and produce an entity, as a result which may be stored in the data base. [Pg.184]
