Dark lagers

Dark lagers are typically brewed to densities of about 1.050-1.060. They will have bitterness of about 15-25 and a color close to that of brown ale (about 17-23). [Pg.136]

Bock beers are similar in color to dark lagers, but may be a bit darker, sometimes as dark as 30 SRM. Bocks are heavier beers, having starting densities of 1.060 up to as much as 1.080 for a doppelbock. Bocks have bitterness of about 20-30. [Pg.136]

This beer took third place in the Dark Lager cat ory at the 1987 Upstate New York Homebrewers Association Annual Competition. [Pg.140]
