Dais Analytic Corporation

Sulfonated Styrenic Block Copolymers Two kinds of styrene-based membranes were introduced by Dais Analytic Corporation (see Fig. 29.10). The first was fabricated from a commercially available styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene triblock polymer (Kraton) by postsulfonation of the styrenic units (Ehrenberg et al., 1995). Later, a new Dais Analytic membrane was developed based on an ethylene-styrene pseudorandom interpolymer from Dow Chemical Corporation (Serpico et al., 2002). Using a... [Pg.772]

Presently, two commercial (or semicommercial) PEMs are based on styrene or styrene-like monomers BAM from Ballard, and Dais Analytic s sul-fonated styrene—ethylene—butylene—styrene (SEBS) membrane. Ballard Advanced Materials Corporation introduced a styrenic membrane based on a novel family of sulfonated copolymers incorporating a,/3,l3-trifluorostyrene and substituted a,y3, -trifluoro-styrene comonomers. These are registered as BAM membranes, and their general formula is given in Figure 3. [Pg.352]
