Drilling fluids cuttings transport

To transport drill cuttings to (he surface by suspending and carrying (hem in the fluid stream that flows in the annitlus between the wellbore and the drill rod. [Pg.145]

Oilfield. In oilfield applications CMC and hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC) are used as rheology modifiers for drilling fiuids. The main contribution is a reduction of fluid loss but they can also make an important contribution to the shale inhibitive properties. High viscosity of the drilling fluid helps the transport of drilled solids and cuttings to the surface. HEC is also present in products for oil well cementing. [Pg.254]
