Curriculum strategy development

Chemistry has made a proformd impaet on the soeiety. It is intimately linked to the well-being of human kind. The rate of advaneements in chemistry is so high that curriculum developers continuously look for strategies to cope with these advancements. Also, the students have to be inspired to be the future leaders who would make fundamental contributions. The present textbook is a sincere effort in this direction. [Pg.5]

This will ensure that teachers are in a position to identify and analyse risks involved in the school curriculum activities and subsequently develop and implement strategies to manage risk and minimise the possibility of accident and injury. According to Sharp (1990), the prime risk areas in school settings seem to be supervision, conduct of the activity and the nature of the activity, and equipment and faciUties. While head teachers are expected to maintain adequate systems of supervision to protect all children in the care of the school, this responsibility is delegated to class teachers. In 1994, the American Chemical Society sponsored a project called "Foundations for Excellence in the Chemical Process Industries."The goal of the project was to develop voluntary industry standards for chemical process industry technical workers (laboratory and process technicians). The ACS has been supported in this research by a wide array of community, industrial, and educational institutions. The standards developed under this project were designed to assist educators in curriculum development, instructional strategies, and chemical and process technology program design. [Pg.30]
