A new curcuminoid, cyclocurcumin, possessing nematocidal activity, was isolated from the mother liquor by repeated purification as a yellow gum (Kiuchi et al, 1993). It had the same molecular formula as curcumin, but differed in structure by an intramolecular Michael addition of the enol-oxygen to the enone group. The chemical structures of these components are given in Fig. 6.2. [Pg.104]

As it can be deduced from the description of the chemical structures of anthocyans and anthocyanidins, polyphenolic pigments are usually water soluble (Figure 1). Noticeable exceptions are the curcumin oils (yellow),... [Pg.51]

In this article, we have reviewed the literatures available for the mechanism of action and anti-inflammatory properties of selected nutraceuticals such as curcumin, resveratrol, green tea polyphenols and diarylheptanoids (chemical structures in Figure 1). In addition we have also shown the antiinflammatory properties of a diarylheptanoids from Alpinia galanga and different possible targets in inflammation. [Pg.49]
