Crystallization of achiral organic compounds

Process of crystallization of achiral organic compounds can also generate chirality. Compounds that crystallize in chiral form belong to various classes of organic compounds, including substituted benzene derivatives, polyaryl and polycychc derivahves, heterocyclic compounds, etc. These compounds were reviewed in short in literature [4]. It is evident that chirality of this type occurs only in crystalhne form and disappears upon dissolution. [Pg.13]
