Crop rotation India

Jute cultivation is labour-intensive, but it requires relatively small quantities of other input, such as fertilizers and pesticides, and can be carried out in smallholdings. Jute competes for land with food crops such as paddy rice in Bangladesh and India, and cassava in Thailand. In general, producers attempt to adopt a multi-cropping strategy with jute in rotation with paddy. [Pg.62]
