Kubo, 1. and Smith, L.R. (1998) Crinitol, an acyclic diterpene diol from marine algae, in Studies in Natural Products Chemistry, vol. 20 (ed. Atta-Ur-Rahman), Elsevier, Amsterdam, pp. 25-39. [Pg.473]

Crinitol (1) was first isolated from one of the most studied marine brown algae, Cystoseira crinita Bory (Cystoseiraceae), and its structure was established as 3,7,11,15-tetramethylhexadeca-2,6,10,14-tetraene-l,9-diol (1) it was later found in the closely related species Cystoseira balearica (2). The absolute configuration at C-9 was not determined in the Cystoseira-deiived samples, but was determined as Rin crinitol isolated from another brown... [Pg.25]
