Standard 8 Those who create and maintain good human relationships meet this difficult qualification. They not only maintain their inner circles but also reach out to meet new people. Some of these new relationships are with younger people. If a human-relations problem occurs, they repair it. 

This section discusses personal relationships during retirement. When you complete it, you should be able to build better relationships, create a strong inner-circle support system, do a better job of handling family demands, and explain the difference between the two languages of love and decide which best fits your comfort zone. 

Without planning, it is possible, especially for those without family members close by, to wind up almost alone. By taking charge, you can create a human support system. A human support system consists of those who provide frequent spiritual, emotional, psychological, and occasionally, financial support. This group constitutes your inner circle. 

This procedure led to a unique, hierarchical classification of scaffolds, in which each scaffold in the hierarchy is a well-defined chemical entity, which is a substructure of the original molecules. Thereby more complex scaffolds can be reduced to smaller scaffolds creating branches and several branches merge toward the inner circles of the tree. This procedure leads to a reduction of molecular complexity from multiple annulated rings at the outer rims to single ring systems at the most inner circle of the scaffold tree (Figure 9.10). 

Although we re used to thinking of inner work as a journey we must take alone, I often feel that just the opposite is true- Often, we re best able to access our own inner wisdom when we re working in community, embedded within what Parker Palmer has called a circle of trust composed of like-minded souls- With a little effort and intention, we can create favorable conditions for the shy soul to appear and be heard in the presence of others-...
