Cost analysis benefits, overview

Provides careful descriptions and critiques of techniques for an overview and cost benefit analysis. [Pg.259]

In this introduction, we have presented an overview of the benefits of applying the technique of SFE to the area of food analysis. There are substantially reduced costs derived from use of SFE versus traditional extraction in the areas of solvent purchase costs, solvent disposal costs, reduced labour charges, and even less need to repeat experiments due to reduced human errors in the overall analytical scheme. Moreover, productivity can be improved and the use of environmentally-unfriendly solvents is greatly reduced. In the rest of this chapter we will explore the fundamental principles of SFE in more detail, discuss some of the aspects of current SFE instrumentation, present a number of examples of applying SFE to food samples, and briefly summarise some hints for methods development. [Pg.427]

The costs are compared to the proceeds from selling the re-products produced and remuneration for collection services, correct re-using and disposal of residues. Table 7 represents an overview over the cost-benefit analysis of plastics waste utilization on the basis of the study of Bauermeister et a/. [6]. [Pg.462]

Section 2 provides a brief overview of the quantification method for cost-benefit models for security devices. It is found that a full cost-benefit analysis requires a substantial effort, even for a single surveillance device which may be difficult in operational organizations such as the Police. The discussion on mathematical modelling is briefly... [Pg.409]

This section provides an overview of the activities that are involved in designing and implementing a model predictive control system. For a new MPC application, a cost/benefit analysis is usually performed prior to project approval. Then the steps involved in the implementation of MPC can be summarized as follows (Hokanson and Gerstle, 1992 Qin and Badgwell, 2003) ... [Pg.406]
