Corrosion of Duplex Stainless Steel Weldments

The influence of different welding conditions on various material properties of AUoy 2205 has been studied. Chemical compositions of test materials are given in Table 12.8, and the results of the investigation are detailed in the following sections. [Pg.451]

Despite the nse of very high arc energies (0.5 to 6kJ/mm, or 13 to 152kJ/inch) in combination with mnlti-pass welding, the Strauss test (ASTM A 262, Practice E) failed to uncover any signs of sensitization after bending through 180°. [Pg.451]

The results of Huey tests (ASTM A 262, Practice C) on snbmerged arc welds showed that the corrosion rate increased slightly with arc energy in the studied range of 0.5 to 6.0kJ/mm (13 to 152kJ/inch). For comparison, the corrosion rate for parent metal typically varies between 0.15 and 1.0 mm/y (6 and 40 rmls/y), depending on surface finish and heat-treatment cycle. [Pg.451]

Similar resnlts were obtained in Huey tests of specimens from bead-on-tube welds produced by GTA welding. In this case, the corrosion rate had a tendency to increase slightly with arc energy up to 3 kJ/mm (76 kJ/inch). [Pg.451]
