Corporate Sources, Patent Assignees and Locations

The field Corporate Source (CS) names the organisation/institution where a publication was produced, or, in the case of a patent, the patent assignee(s). In this field, proximity operators are allowed, as the paragraph is single-word indexed. [Pg.194]

Looking at the index is as valuable here as elsewhere. Problems may occur with names of companies and institutions, mainly when they contain abbreviations, e.g. DEGUSSA, 3M or MIT. Abbreviations and spelled out versions of the names must inevitably be entered in this case  [Pg.194]

The field Location (LO), naming town and country, is also useful for refining the search. In the case of the U.S.A. and Canada, the respective federal states/ provinces are mentioned. The ISO Country Code in the field Country Code (CN) is an additional tool for narrowing the search, but it cannot be displayed. [Pg.194]
