Coronary stenosis, platelet activation

In addition to limiting the activity of thrombolytic agents, platelet activation may decrease effective reperfusion. Platelet aggregation in the coronary circulation may result in reocclusion or in the high-grade stenosis which commonly complicates coronary thrombolysis and which appears to be due in part to residual clot. Platelet aggregation may also be more diffuse within the reperfused coronary bed which in turn may limit reperfusion flow. [Pg.144]
