For some individuals re-enactment is not an adaptive and healing process and work serves to re-traumatize them. These individuals are more likely to have rigid and severe EMS and maladaptive coping styles, experience negative affect from their working environment and consequently will be more prone to developing stress syndromes and PTSD.
