Coordination Compounds as Precursors of Composites

The thermal decomposition in inert atmosphere of the carboxylic complexes with double and/or aromatic carbon-carbon bonds (like maleates and ortho Here phthalates [143], acrylates [144]) may lead to the so-called metal-polymer composites. 

Briefly, the process consists in the formation of metallic ultra-dispersed particle that are in situ simultaneously chemically passivate with a polymer matrix (reactions 1 and 2) [143]  

A catalytic polymerization on the metal s surface is not excluded. The obtained metal-polymer conglomerates present a spherical morphology [143].
