Continuous-scan porosimetry

The pressure vessel containing the sample cell is connected to the pressure generator with high pressure tubing. An oil reservoir near the top of the apparatus feeds oil to the pressure vessel as required for filling. The pressure vessel has removable caps on the top and bottom for loading the [Pg.208]

The mercury level is monitored with a capacitance probe as shown in Fig. 20.1. The signal from the capacitance probe and from the pressure transducer are plotted on an X-Y recorder as intrusion volume and pore radius, respectively. [Pg.209]

Some of the advantages of scanning porosimetry include the following  [Pg.209]

1 Continuous plots of both intrusion and extrusion curves are obtained. 2. At nominal drive speeds a complete analysis takes about 15 minutes. [Pg.209]

At no time along the intrusion curve does the pressure relax. Therefore, no opportunity is provided for a small quantity of extrusion to occur following intrusion. This is a condition which can produce a data point somewhere in the hysteresis region between the intrusion and extrusion curves. [Pg.210]
