The compounds 6a and 6b have been prepared by successive lithiation of hexahydro-2-phenyl-1,3,2-diazaborine and reaction with CIB[N(CH3)2]2 [28, 29] 7a and 7b were prepared from 6b by transamination with H2N(CH2)3NH2 [29]. 

An X-ray structure determination of 6b shows that the two annular B-N distances average 145.6 pm, and the two exocyclic B-N bonds average 146.3 pm [28, 29]. 

8 has been synthesized from C9Hi8N-B=NC4H9-f and 9-diethylamino-9-borafluorene (C9H18N = 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidin-1-yl) [23].

Although recent reviews of metal-carborane electrochemistry (37, 38) obviate the need to discuss multimetallic carborane clusters here, it seems appropriate to mention the results of studies on triple-decker sandwich compounds. The only structurally confirmed (39) all-hydrocarbon tripledecker, [Ni2Cp3] (18), has apparently not been investigated electro-chemically, but carborane analogues containing two or three boron atoms...
