ConocoPhillips Gasifier

In the lower part of the gasifier, CWS is injected with 02 via two opposed nozzles. The reaction temperature in this first stage is normally 1350-1400 °C and the pressure is about 3 MPa. The molten slag runs down the gasifier and is discharged

The only operational ConocoPhillips gasifier is at the Wabash River IGCC and runs on bituminous coal. Extensive tests have been carried out over the years on subbituminous coals and petroleum coke.

In 2005, there were fonr coabbased IGCC power plants in operation in the world Tampa Electric in Polk County, Florida, based on a Texaco (now GE) gasifier Wabash repowering project in Indiana, based on E-Gas (now ConocoPhillips E-Gas) ancf Buggenum in The Netherlands and Pnertollano in Spain, both based on Shell gasifiers (N.A.H. Holt, IGCCTechnology—Statns, Opportunities, and Issnes, EM, Dec. 2004, pp. 18-26).
