3 conditions polyethylene foams

Tokuda, S., Kemmotsu, T., Electron beam irradiation conditions and foam seat properties in polypropylene-polyethylene blends. Radiation Physics and Chemistry 1995, 46, 905-908. [Pg.302]

Alkoxides should be stored under cool, dry conditions. The soHds are packed in polyethylene bags under nitrogen or argon that are shipped in dmms with foam mbber gaskets. For the Hquid alkoxides steel dmms are used, usually with a polyethylene liner. [Pg.28]

Based on this analysis it is evident that materials which are biaxially oriented will have good puncture resistance. Highly polar polymers would be resistant to puncture failure because of their tendency to increase in strength when stretched. The addition of randomly dispersed fibrous filler will also add resistance to puncture loads. From some examples such as oriented polyethylene glycol terephthalate (Mylar), vulcanized fiber, and oriented nylon, it is evident that these materials meet one or more of the conditions reviewed. Products and plastics that meet with puncture loading conditions in applications can be reinforced against this type of stress by use of a surface layer of plastic with good puncture resistance. Resistance of the surface layer to puncture will protect the product from puncture loads. An example of this type of application is the addition of an oriented PS layer to foam cups to improve their performance. [Pg.94]

Various polymeric materials were tested statically with both gaseous and liquefied mixtures of fluorine and oxygen containing from 50 to 100% of the former. The materials which burned or reacted violently were phenol-formaldehyde resins (Bakelite) polyacrylonitrile-butadiene (Buna N) polyamides (Nylon) polychloroprene (Neoprene) polyethylene polytriflu-oropropylmethylsiloxane (LS63) polyvinyl chloride-vinyl acetate (Tygan) polyvinylidene fluoride-hexafluoropropylene (Viton) polyurethane foam. Under dynamic conditions of flow and pressure, the more resistant materials which binned were chlorinated polyethylenes, polymethyl methacrylate (Perspex) polytetraflu-oroethylene (Teflon). [Pg.1519]

Thermoformed high density polyethylene (PE) and low density PE foams that can be molded into a variety of complex shapes are being increasingly used in supporting devices in the treatment of orthopaedic and disabling conditions. Some examples are wheelchair seats, spinal jackets, medical shoe inserts, and splint supports. [Pg.793]

Four kinds of hydrolysis lignin (HL) samples obtained from different industrial plants in New Zealand and three different places in Russia (Archangelsk, Lobin-sky, and Kirovsky) were used. Lignin powder samples were dissolved in DEG or polyethylene glycol (PEG) and HL polyols were prepared [54]. Rigid polyurethane (PU) foams were obtained through the reaction of HL polyols with MDI. Optimum reaction conditions in order to attain designed properties were examined. [Pg.37]
