Conditioning procedures, effect

During our conditioning procedure, without the subject knowing it, we manipulated the intensity of the pain stimulus that we applied to each area. We administered an intensely painful stimulus to the area where we had put plain water, slightly less intense stimulation to the Trivaricaine-B area and much lower intensity to the Trivaricaine-A area. Then, to test the effects of this conditioning procedure, we applied the same level of pain to all three areas. As we had expected, subjects repotted the greatest amount of pain in the control area where we had applied plain water, less pain in the Trivaricaine-B area and even less in the Trivaricaine-A area. 

Procedure Effects of ultrasound on the following reaction can be seen clearly, when the reactions are carried out both in the ultrasonic field as well as under normal conditions. The yield in most of the reactions increased due to cavitation and mass flow but a decrease could also be sometimes expected due to volatility of one of the reagents. The average increase/decrease in the yield of product, reported here, is an average of two sets of reactions carried out separately under sonicated and mechanical stirring conditions.
