Compressors valve velocity

To assist the engineer in making estimates, the curve in Figure 3-6 gives values of efficiency plotted against pressure ratios. The values on the curve include a 95% mechanical efficiency and a valve velocity of 3,000 feet per minute. Table 3-1 and Table 3-2 are included to permit a correction to be made to the compressor horsepower for specific gravity and low inlet pressure. They are included to help illustrate the influence of these factors to the power required. The application of these factors to... [Pg.60]

Figure 3-6. Reciprocating compressor efficiencies plotted against pressure ratio with a valve velocity of 3,(M)0 fpm and a mechanical efficiency of 95%. Figure 3-6. Reciprocating compressor efficiencies plotted against pressure ratio with a valve velocity of 3,(M)0 fpm and a mechanical efficiency of 95%.
Valve type and size should be specified by the compressor manufacturer. Normally, the manufacturer will quote a valve velocity, which can be calculated from ... [Pg.300]

There are test procednres for liqnid prodnct flame arresters, high velocity vent valves, flow controlled apertnres (velocity flame stoppers), and hydranlic flame arresters, as well as specific reqnirements for testing flame arresters nsed with compressors, fans, blowers, and vacnnm pnmps, which are not covered in other standards. [Pg.161]

An ejector is a simplified type of vacuum pump or compressor which has no pistons, valves, rotors, or other moving parts. Figure 10-98 illustrates a steam-jet ejector. It consists essentially of a nozzle which discharges a high-velocity jet across a suction chamber that is con-... [Pg.57]

The Velocity of Extrudate Exiting. It has been already pointed that the rate of extrusion is an output variable only in the case of the compressor version of hydrostatic extrusion. For the plunger processes, under the normal flow, the rate of extrusion is an independent quantity. If the working fluid is pumped to the chamber by a compressor, and in the chamber there is a control valve for releasing unnecessary liquid, then it is possible to maintain the extrusion pressure at a preset level. In this case, the velocity of product exiting depends on pressure and temperature. According to theoretical estimates, and to experiment (38), the extrusion rate exponentially increases with pressure. [Pg.7733]

Newton s law is applied in order to derive the linear momentum balance equation. Newton s law states that the sum of all forces equals the rate of change of linear momentum. The derivation/application of this law ultimately provides information critical to any meaningful analysis of most chemical reactors. Included in this information are such widely divergent topics as flow mechanisms, the Reynolds number, velocity profiles, two-phase flow, prime movers such as fans, pumps and compressors, pressure drop, flow measurement, valves and fittings, particle dynamics, flow through porous media and packed beds, fluidization— particularly as it applies to fluid-bed and fixed bed reactors, etc. Although much of this subject matter is beyond the scope of this text, all of these topics are treated in extensive detail by Abulencia and Theodore. ... [Pg.142]

Compressed air produced by two high pressure compressors of the nearby Laboratory for Aero- and Hydrodynamics, is supplied to the combustor by a control valve and enters the bed through a nozzle type air distributor, after it has been preheated in the annulus between the pressure vessel and the heat resistant inner vessel. At pressurised conditions the pressure and the fluidisation velocity are controlled by respectively the inletand the outlet control valve. [Pg.70]
