The dicyclopentadiene compound yielded atactic polypropylene as demonstrated by extraction with hydrocarbon solvents. However, when Kaminsky replaced the Jt-bonded cyclopentadienyl ligands by ethylene-bridged indenyl rings (Figure 4.13), isotactic polymer was produced, and less than 1% of the polymer was extractable. Furthermore, the productivity at 2rC over an 8-h period was about 400 kg polypropylene/g Zr.
