Composites with Covalent Bonding of the Polymer

A carbon nanotube must be chemically functionalized to enable the covalent attachment of suitable polymer molecules. This may be achieved, for example, by the methods described in Section 3.5.4.1. There are various procedures to prepare covalently bound composites. These shall be discussed in detail below. The methods can altogether be classified with respect to their type of connection and to the moment of composite formation. 

Polymerization Originating from the Nanotube A polymerization that originates 

The generation of dendritic structures on a nanotube surface represents a special case of a polymerization that originates from nanotubes. The method is of interest for the production of composites with a large number of terminal functional groups.
