Pasch, H. and Ghahary R., Analysis of Complex Polymers by MALDI-TOF Mass Spectrometry, Macrontol. Symp., 152, 267, 2000. [Pg.510]

In order to substantiate the complex polymer structures obtainable by the dick process, the rigorous stmctural characterization of the products by means of SEC, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), and matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization-time of flight (MALDI-TOF) spectroscopic techniques has been carried out Details relating to the synthesis and structural analyses of the key cycHc precursor, and of the subsequent tricycHc paddle-shaped polymer, are provided here as representative examples. [Pg.539]

H. Pasch, R. Briill, U. Wahner, B. Monrabal, Analysis of complex polymers by MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry. Macromol. Mater. Eng. 279, 46-51 (2000)... [Pg.1727]

The data shown in Figure 7.7 were verified by measuring the average chemical composition independently by NMR spectroscopy. Also, the data agree very well with theoretical expectations based on random-coupling statistics. The authors concluded that in this particular case variations in the efficiency of ionization and mass-spectral analysis were insignificant. Despite this remarkable success, the authors warn that this is not necessarily the case for other polymers. Yet, it has been demonstrated that detailed information on complex polymers can be obtained from the MALDI-ToF-MS spectra of complex (co)polymers and efforts in this direction are ongoing (Staal, 2005). [Pg.182]

Macromolecular Symposia Vol.152, March 2000, p.267-78 ANALYSIS OF COMPLEX POLYMERS BY MALDI-TOF MASS SPECTROMETRY... [Pg.82]

The results are reported of an analysis of the functionality, molar mass and chemical composition of complex polymers, using MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry and a combination of MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography. Polymers investigated included polyamide-12, bisphenol A polycarbonate, methoxylated melamine-formaldehyde resin, carboxy-terminated PS and PMMA. 33 refs. [Pg.82]

HPLC and the extensive complexity of ESI and MALDI spectra for multicomponent polymers with molar mass over about 10 g mol. Some applications of MALDI MS in polymer HPLC can be found for example in [300-303],... [Pg.496]

Mass spectra are used to determine molecular weights and molecular composition (from the parent or molecular ion) and to obtain structural information from the fragmentation of the molecular ion into daughter ions. Electrospray ionization (ESI-MS) and matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization (MALDI-MS) mass spectroscopy can be used to obtain structural information about macromolecules, including proteins, polymers, and drug-DNA complexes. [Pg.233]
