Complete mixing in pervaporation

The equations for the complete mixing case are similar to the ones derived for gas separation. The retentaie composition can be obtained from the mass balances (see eq. VIII -40) 

Here i is assumed to be the more permeable component. Combination of eqs. Vm - 40 with Vin - 59 gives eq. Vin - 60 which is quadratic in permeate concentration Xp and linear in feed concentration x and recovery S. 

If the permeate concentration and feed concentration are known the. recovery can be determined from eq. vm - 61. 

If the permeate concentradon and recovery are known the feed concentration can be determined from eq. Vm - 62 

The recovery can be obtained as well from an energy balance. For the complete mixing case the temperature at the feed side is constant and the energy balance is given
