Comblike associative polymers

Various dynamic processes occurring in solutions of associative polymers explain to a large extent their rheological behavior. Most studies have been performed using rheological methods (see Chapter 2, Section VI, and Chapter 9) and NMR (see Chapter 2, Section IV). Results for telechelic and for comblike associative pol5nners are examined successively. 

Comblike polymers made up of a poly(sodium acrylate) backbone with various fluorocarbon or hydrocarbon pendant hydrophobes were studied by means of and A preliminary study showed that the hydrophobes were slowly exchanging between the free and associated states and the hydrophobe lifetime in the associated state was reported to be longer than 1-10 ms, depending on the hydrophobe.
