Dry coloring

Colorants can be added to plastics by several methods. The incorporation of the colorant often is a balance between a particular end property requirement and inventory control. The typical forms in which colorants are added are raw colorant, dispersed colorant, dry concentrate, and Hquid concentrate. Furthermore, resins can be purchased that have the colorants dispersed in them, thus the resin is precolored. [Pg.456]

Benzoyl leuco Basic Blue 3 (2) is a typical cyan leuco oxazine used in carbonless copy paper. To satisfy the requirements of new applications such as electrolytic recording and Color Dry Silver, new oxazine leucos have been... [Pg.78]

Phenazine leuco dyes, like their thiazine and oxazine analogues, have also found application in electrolytic recording, overhead transparencies, and Color Dry Silver. The phenazine leuco 48 is employed in electrolytic recording,17 whereas compounds 49, 50 are described as useful in thermographic and photothermographic systems.18... [Pg.83]

Phenazine leucos until now are usually substituted at their 3 and 6 positions by amino groups due to the normal method of synthesis of the parent phenazine dyes. These types of leuco dyes are reactive. An alternative method of dye synthesis allows access to phenazine dyes with just one substituent at the 3-position.20 The resulting leuco dyes are called half diazine leucos. The loss of one exocyclic amino group leads to higher redox potential and results in less reactive leuco dyes, more useful in applications such as thermographic and photothermographic imaging, particularly Color Dry Silver. [Pg.85]

Avoid bruising the flower heads and spread them out to dry with their heads down on a nylon screen or net. It is best to keep them from touching one another so they will retain their color. Dry them in a warm place such as an attic or on top of a clean closet. [Pg.77]

Commercial gelatin is produced in mesh sizes ranging from coarse granules lo fine powder. In Europe, gelatin is also produced in thin sheets for use in cooking. II is a vitreous, brittle solid, faintly yellow in color. Dry commercial gelatin contains about 9-13% moisture and is essentially tasteless and odorless with specific gravity between 1.3 and... [Pg.707]

Remember that San Pedro s main problem is rot. This usually is from damage, fresh cuts, accidental pokes, or too wet soil when it is cool. If you see one rotting, don t wait take a clean knife and cut above the mushy area. Keep slicing 1/2 inch off until the cross-section has no off-color. Dry the exposed cut in sun or in dry air for a few days, until... [Pg.159]
