Again the ease of reaction depends very much on Q (P, As) and the substituents R1 and R63, 64l The preparation of a compound containing an optically active silicon center, trans-(+)-Pt(Pme2ph)2Cl[Si meph(l-naphthyl)], showed that these complexes are formed with retention of configuration at the silicon96. The stereochemical characteristics are also retained in the syntheses of cobalt carbonyls according to Eq. (9)210 ... 

A more detailed synthesis of 4-nitrophenyl-, 2-naphthyl-, 2-phe-nanthryl-, 9-anthryl-, and 2-anthraquinonyl-substituted cobalt(III) sarcophaginates starting from the corresponding methylarylketones was reported in Ref. 137. 

Ni(ll) and Cu(ll), R being phenyl, p-tolyl, p-chlorophenyl, p-anisyl, a-and 8-naphthyl and o,o -xylidyl. All the cobalt(Il) complexes examined are considered to be tetrahedral in non-donor solvents.

Carboxylation is another reaction that can be obtained via the Srj,1 path. Thus phenyl or naphthyl iodides or bromides, when irradiated in the presence of cobalt diacetate or dicobalt octacarbonyl, carbon monoxide and bases yield carboxylic acids in quite useful yields [129] (the reaction could be conveniently carried out also under phase transfer conditions) [130]. In the presence of alcohols or amine, esters or amides are formed [131a]. Aryl chlorides also react, more favorably by increasing the CO pressure to 2 atm [131b].
