The XTC/2 and XTC/C group can control vacuum coating sources and up to three different coatings of a process (not to be confused w/ith nine different coating programs). In the case of XTM/2, XTC/2 and XTC/C units, the AutoZero and AutoTune functions are not available, and measurement with several sensors simultaneously as well as simultaneous control of two vacuum coating sources are not possible. [Pg.131]

Unprotected steel corrodes at a rate which is generally assumed to be 0.1 to 0.2mm per annum. Factors that influence the actual rate of corrosion include the maintenance program applied by the owner - particularly preservation of protective coatings, efficiency of cathodic protection systems in ballast tanks, corrosive properties of the cargo carried and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity. Under extreme conditions it has been known for the annual rate of corrosion on unprotected steel exposed on both surfaces to approach 1mm. [Pg.1048]

Many competitive programs to perfect a metallic anode for chlorine arose. In one, Dow Chemical concentrated on a coating based on cobalt oxide rather than precious metal oxides. This technology was patented (9,10) and developed to the semicommercial state, but the operating characteristics of the cobalt oxide coatings proved inferior to those of the platinum-group metal oxide. [Pg.119]

Practical considerations enter into the experimental plan in various other ways. In many programs, variables are introduced at different operational levels. For example, in evaluating the effect of alloy composition, oven temperature, and varnish coat on tensile strength, it may be convenient to make a number of master alloys with each composition, spHt the alloys into separate parts to be subjected to different heat treatments, and then cut the treated samples into subsamples to which different coatings are appHed. Tensile strength measurements are then obtained on all coated subsamples. [Pg.521]

A number of new technology promotion options are being explored in the lighting area. Work is undeiway on market transformation programs based on bulk procurement for improved efficacy incandescent light bulbs and for compact fluorescent lamps and fixtures. For incandescent lamps, adaptations of the infrared reflective lamp coating that is already in use on reflector bulbs are encouraged by the EPAct requirement. [Pg.81]
