Leucopenia clozapine

A possible case of neutropenia eaused by the addition of nefazodone to treatment with sodium valproate and elozapine has been reported. The patient had been reeeiving treatment with sodium valproate and clozapine for many months when nefazodone was started in increasing doses up to 200 mg twice daily. Within one week her neutrophil count had dropped to 1.8 X 10 /L, and remained low until the nefazodone was discontinued. The patient s serum level of clozapine was reported to remain stable during this time and the patient had not had any previous episodes of leucopenia during treatment with clozapine. ... 

Delayed onset of clozapine-induced leucopenia is reported in a 51-year-old male after 11 years of treatment necessitating discontinuation of clozapine [125 ]. A second case of delayed onset of clozapine-induced leucopenia is reported in a 57-year-old female after 6 years of treatment also leading to discontinuation [126 ]. Two cases, a 45-year-old male and a 50-year-old female who developed neutropenia but successfully responded and tolerated high-dose quetiapine, are reported [127 ]. A case series reporting the withdrawal and reintroduction of clozapine in patients suffering from dengue fever is described [128 ]. 

Haematologic A case report of valproic add-related anticonvulsant hypersensitivity syndrome and subsequent olanzapine-related neutropenia and thrombocytopenia is described [177 ]. A case of a 23-year-old male who developed olanzapine-associated leucopenia and thrombocytopenia after a previous history of leucopenia with clozapine is reported [178 ].
