Cylinder cleaners

Cylinder cleaners are an Important type of seed-cotton cleaner. They remove small trash (16, 28) and operate by scrubbing seed-cotton against a grid-bar grate (inclined cleaner) or by the interaction of an upper and lower set of cylinders (Impact cleaner). Cylinder cleaners are well described in the Cotton Glnners Handbook (29). [Pg.17]

Fig.76 shows a smoke star which is hung by a parachute. The composition is packed with a piece of thin paper (Japanese Gampi) and rolled into an eddy-cylinder(Fig.77) Then it is pressed into a paper container. This process was produced to make the work cleaner. Two or three smoke holes are bored in it with an awl from i he outside. Fig.76 shows a smoke star which is hung by a parachute. The abundance of natural gas, its relatively lower price, and its potential to be a cleaner fuel has promoted much interest in its use as motor fuel. Numerous vehicles around the world have been adapted to use compressed natural gas (CNG) as fuel. The gas is typically stored at a pressure of 200 atm ( 20.2MPa) in heavy steel cylinders. The net deliverable capacity for the CNG tank between 20.2 and 0.137 MPa is 215 standard liters/liter of storage volume (m /m ). The energy density of CNG is, however, only 29% of that of gasoline. [Pg.587]

Extensive research has been done on the mechanical separation of the bast from the core on kenaf. The U.S. Department on Agriculture sponsored a research in mechanical retting at the Mississippi State University [10] and with a private firm in Bakersfiled, California [11]. Chopped whole stock was used in a process involving a spiked cylinder and an airline cleaner [12]. Separation efficiencies of 42 to 48% were achieved. It was found that the moisture content was a critical factor in the separation efficiencies and, if controlled, the separation was cleaner and quicker. Fisher [11] used a modified cotton gin and found separation efficiencies of more than 90%. [Pg.408]
