Penicillin wider spectrum than penicillin G with activity similar to ampi-cillin but greater oral bioavailability less adverse effects on G1 tract than ampicillin. Susceptible to penicillinases unless used with clavulanic acid. Tox penicillin allergy.

Immunologic Urticaria and angioedema, a class I reaction, after the use of co-amoxi-clav in 10 children aged 4-12 years were attributed to allergy to clavulanic acid, on the basis of the IgE response to an oral challenge and negative skin tests with penicillins [102< ].
