Clapham High School

Mistress of Huddersfield Municipal High School in 1908. She moved south in 1913, taking a position as Chemistry Mistress at Clapham High School (a GPDSC school). Like so many other women chemists (see Chap. 12), Marshall started war work in 1916, in her case, with the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) as a Scientific Research Assistant, where she stayed for the remainder of her working life. [Pg.230]

The first woman chemist hired by Horlicks Ltd. was Winifred Elizabeth Adams.47 Adams, born on 10 November 1909 in Wandsworth, London, was the daughter of Herbert Edward Adams, a teacher at Dulwich College, and Winifred Rackham, a preparatory school Mistress. She was educated at Clapham High School (a GPDSC school), then studied at the Chelsea Polytechnic before entering Newnham to study biochemistry in 1929. [Pg.491]

One of the first beneficiaries of ICI s reversal of its opposition to women researchers was Jesse Dorehill Crampton Mole.97 Mole, daughter of Ernest Mole, a retired police officer, was educated at Notre Dame High School, Clapham, and the City of London School for Girls.
