Civilian incident commander

The commanding officer of the CBIRF knows who he works for The 350 members of the CRIRF know our focal point, the person we support, is the civilian, local incident commander, he says. He or she is the constitutionally mandated authority and all local, state, and federal assistance should be focused on helping that civilian incident commander accomplish his or her tasks. In every training exercise undertaken by the CBIRF, there is one person in civilian clothes equipped with a radio who is required to be present at a chemical/biological incident the local, civilian incident commander. 

When you leave the scene, proceed to decontamination and perform wet decontamination if possible. Report to your supervisor and to incident command. Box 2-4 lists actions for civilians to take if they think they have been exposed to a chemical. 

The UK Armed Forces can be tasked to provide assistance at major incidents (including terrorist incidents) under the Military Aid to the Civil Powers (MAC) regulations. A request for mUitary assistance is the responsibility of the gold command and, once assistance has been agreed, a military-civilian liaison officer will be appointed (usually a senior local commander).
