Chromium(II) phthalocyanine (PcCr) is prepared from phthalonitrile and hexacarbonylchro-mium(O) in 1-chlornaphthalene.234 PcCr(OAc) is prepared from phthalonitrile and chro-mium(III) acetate without solvent235 or in nitrobenzene starting from chromium(II) acetate236 under reflux. Chromium(lll) phthalocyanine also forms /t-oxo dimeric complexes,237 which are more common with iron phthalocyanines. [Pg.732]

The catalyst is a mixture of copper, zinc oxide, and chromium(lll) oxide. Ethanol is produced in large quantities throughout the world by the fermentation of carbohydrates. It is also prepared by the hydration of ethene in an addition reaction ... [Pg.875]

The aqueous solution may be analyzed for chromium by AA or ICP techniques. Chromium(III) may be measured by ion chromatography. Additionally, the compound may be decomposed thermally to chromium(lll) oxide, Cr203, which can be identified by x-ray techniques. Water content of the hydroxide may be measured by gravimetry. [Pg.223]

Chromium(lll) sulfate is used as the electrolyte for obtaining pure chromium metal. It is used for chrome plating of other metals for protective and decorative purposes. Other important applications of this compound are as a mordant in the textile industry in tanning leather to dissolve gelatin to impart green color to paints, varnishes, inks, and ceramic glazes and as a catalyst. [Pg.228]

While the ultimate product of the reaction is the product of an O2 insertion into the Cr - C bond (Sect. 3.1), the first identifiable sfep is the binding of O2 to chromium. At - 45 °C, a color change of the solution from the brilliant blue of Tp Cr-Ph to a dark red indicated the formation of a new compound, which is stable at this low temperature. Monitoring the reaction by in-situ IR spectroscopy revealed the appearance of a new band at 1027 cm which shifted to 969 cm when 02 was used. These vibrational data are consistent with the formation of a chromium(lll) superoxide complex, namely Tp u.MeQy(Q2)pj (Scheme 3, top). [Pg.120]
