Chloro-7,7-dimethylbicyclo heptane

For the preparation of 7-bromo-7-chloro-l,6-dimethylbicyclo[4.1.0]heptane from 1,2-dimethylcyclohexene using dibromochloromethane and potassium fert-butoxide, see ref 39. 

Alkyl-l-halocyclopropanes are almost exclusively prepared from 1,1-dibromocyclopropanes, but 7,7-dichloro-c (/o-2-methylbicyclo[4.1.0]heptane is a successful exception. When this dichloride was exposed to an excess of err-butyllithium in the presence of a small amount of 18-crown-6, an isomeric mixture of 7-chloro-cntfo-2,7-dimethylbicyclo[4.1.0]heptane was isolated in 73% yield. 

The photodissociation of larger NO containing molecules has revealed more interesting results. By using a novel delivery system for introducing temperature labile parent molecules that have low volatility into a vacuum system as a beam of thermal molecules, the Cline group was able to study the photodissociation of 1-chloro-l-nitrosocyclohexane (CNCH) and 2-chloro-2-nitroso-6,6-dimethylbicyclo[3.1.1]heptane (CNMH) [161], and...
