Chemokine receptors neuron detection

While CXCR4 was one of the first chemokine receptors detected on normal neurons (Lavi et al., 1997), clues to its function in normal CNS... [Pg.160]

A variety of other chemokine receptors have been detected on neurons in vitro and in situ (see Table II). Treatment of cultured neurons with chemokine ligands for these receptors generally induces increases in intracellular calcium. Activation of these receptors appears to induce survival benefits and modulation of neurotransmission along the same lines as CXCR4. [Pg.170]
