Recognizing this truism makes chemistry not only a science of making new materials, but also, and maybe primarily so, a practical form of introspection—an unconscious introspection that has taken place as Mankind journeys through matter. Chemistry brings to life Man s internal experience of change. All in all, chemistry touches the human existence, well-being, and commitment to be a benevolent master of matter - his essential constituent. All these features make chemistry a central pillar of human culture and a major driving force in its future evolution.
