Chemically bonded phases organic-inorganic hybrid

The properties of the hybrid composites are influenced by the phase of the composites. By comparing the effects that different interactions have on the properties of hybrid composites, it has been concluded that the interactions between silica networks and polymers can be improved by using trialkoxysilyl-functionaUzed polymers the hydrogen bonds and the chemical bonds formed by condensation between the hydroxyl groups and the silanols are two important sources of interactions in the hybrids. Recent studies on organic-inorganic hybrids have been reviewed. ... [Pg.140]

Depending on the level of interaction between these organic-inorganic phases, hybrid materials can either possess weak interaction between these phases such as van der Waals, hydrogen bonding, or electrostatic interaction [7,8], or be of strong, chemically bonded (covalent or coordinate) types [9]. [Pg.58]
