Chemical Characterization of Organic Phosphorus

Labile organic phosphorus (LOP) Wet soils are extracted with 0.5 M NaHCOj. Extracts are filtered through 0.45 pm membrane filter. Filtered solutions are analyzed for total phosphorus and inorganic phosphorus (labile Pj). The difference between these two fractions is called LOP.

Extract-Inorganic P (Iron, aluminum, calcium, and magnesium-bound P)
