Charonia lampas

Arylsulphatases.—An arylsulphatase from the marine gastropod Charonia lampas hydrolysed sulphatide (cerebroside 3-sulphate), sulphogalactolipids, and semino-lipid. The enzymic activity was stimulated by sodium taurodeoxycholate and manganese(ii) chloride, and was inhibited by 4-nitrophenyl sulphate, 4-nitrophenyl catechol sulphate, or L-ascorbic acid 2-sulphate, but not by D-glucose 6-sulphate. The action pattern of the enzyme was compared with those of other sulphatase activities in C. lampas. [Pg.424]

Glycosulphatases.—A glycosulphatase from the liver of the marine gastropod Charonia lampas slowly hydrolysed sulphogalactolipids, sulphatide (cerebroside... [Pg.424]

Purification of the arylsulphatase from the liver of a marine gastropod, Charonia lampas, failed to remove the associated L-ascorbic acid 2-sulphate sulphatase activity. The effects of various compounds on the arylsulphatase activity have been investigated. ... [Pg.390]
