Charge plunger experiment

A particularly interesting variant of the measurements described above is the charge plunger experiment. It allows one to obtain some direct experimental information on the spectroscopic transitions in the second minimum and from this on the degree of deformation of the fission isomers. The experimental setup is shown in O Fig. 4.32.
