From metallographic analysis of the sample with composition Ce33.3Sb66.fi, Abulkhaev and Abdusalamova (1989) observed, in addition to the expected CeSb2 phase and CeSb, needle shaped single crystals of unknown composition and structure. Authors believe that this phase is a high temperature modification of CeSb2. [Pg.37]

In addition to the OP formalism, several alternative schemes have been suggested in the past to account, within a relativistic band-structure calculation, for correlation effects not incorporated within the local approximation to SDFT (LSDA). For example, the LDA+U scheme has been applied to the compound CeSb (Antropov et al. 1995), a system that has a maximum Kerr-rotation angle of 90° (Pittini et al. [Pg.169]

In conjunction with the reflectivity data obtained by Reim et al. for the compounds CeSb and CeTe these authors were able to derive the following picture of the electronic structure of these compounds in CeSb the 4f1- 5d transition... [Pg.535]

This prediction is a reasonable one for most cerium pnictides, namely CeP, CeAs, CeSb, and CeBi which, in fact, exhibit localized spin moments with an antiferromagnetic ordering of the 4/ electron remaining on each Ce [268]. CeN, however, is a metallic conductor with the corresponding magnetic properties and it only shows Pauli paramagnetism of the metallic electron gas, such that no local spin moment, characteristic for an unpaired electron, can be detected. This behavior leads to the possibility of an electronic formulation according to with one electron left in the conduction band, but... [Pg.181]
